The Cornwall Hotel Accessibility Policy
Due to the layout of our hotel rooms and lodges, we strongly recommend you contact us directly with any special requirements, so that we can suggest the most appropriate accommodation to meet your needs and ensure you have the best possible stay with us.

Service dogs are welcomed in all areas of the hotel and grounds at no extra cost. Please inform our Reservations team that you will be bringing your service dog when completing your booking.
Entering the Hotel
The hotel has designated disabled parking spaces situated in front of the main Hotel Reception. Access from the parking bays to reception is a journey of approx. 50m, with a very slight gradient. This access route is tarmac finish to the car park, and paved area in front of main reception doors. There are no steps or thresholds to negotiate into reception.
Reception is provided with a desk of two levels to help guests obtain a convenient worktop height. Guests may request writing materials to help convey their wishes.
All ground floor areas, including Reception, Restaurant, Bar, and Tearoom are accessible to wheelchair users and there is a designated disabled toilet.
Our Function Room can be reached via the lift in Reception, please be aware there are no disabled access toilets in the function room.
There is level access through the bar onto the Parkland Terrace via French doors, which are accessible using a little care with the threshold. Access to the front lawn is by means of steps from the terrace, or by level access from the car park at the front of the hotel.
Dining
The Restaurant, Bar, and Tea Room, are accessible via Reception, see ‘Entering the Hotel’ for more information about access into the main building.
The walkway from Reception to the dining areas is flat, with only a minor lip into the Restaurant.
There is level access through the Bar onto the Parkland Terrace via French doors, which are accessible using a little care with the threshold. Access to the front lawn is by means of steps from the terrace, or by level access from the car park at the front of the hotel.
Hotel Rooms
There are Accessible bedrooms available which are situated within the Woodland Rooms extension. The bedrooms are accessible by a lift and ramped corridor. The ramp on the link corridor has an incline of 1:20, with 2 x 7m inclines and a level rest area in the middle. The Hotel Porter is able to transport luggage from Reception to Bedrooms for guests.
Accessible Rooms have ample space for wheel-chair users, and all doors and openings are wheelchair friendly. Please note, the access patio doors to the external balcony have a high threshold.
Guests with hearing difficulties can request a ‘Deafgard’ from Reception – a device to be placed under the pillow in order to give a vibration warning if the fire alarm sounds. Rooms can be set up to allow access to either side of a single or double bed in advance of your arrival.
All bedroom furniture is easily accessible, except for the top rail within the wardrobe, which may be out of reach for wheelchair users. However, on request, the Housekeeping Staff can either adjust the rail height to suit or provide a help service to hang or remove items.
The bathroom within Accessible rooms are fitted with aids for the less mobile, with a transfer seat area to facilitate access to bath, with shower over. Bathrooms are also fitted with panic alarm systems to summon help, if required.
Walk-in showers are only available in our Standard Rooms in the White House. These rooms are on the first floor which is accessible by lift, however, there are 5 stairs down to these rooms with no wheelchair access. Not all Standard rooms are equipped with walk-in showers, if you do require one, please request this at time of booking.
Luxury and Superior rooms all have a bath with shower over and some are not accessible via the lift. Please let reservations know at time of booking if you require a Luxury or Superior room that is accessible via the lift.
Woodland Homes
The Woodland Homes are two storey buildings, with steps up to the front door. Sleeping accommodation and living accommodation are on different levels and may not be suitable for persons with mobility difficulties.
The Spa
The Spa has designated disabled parking spaces situated in front of the Spa Reception, with a level journey from the parking bays to the Spa entrance.
The rear courtyard terrace has level access with a paved path through its length, however the surface to either side of this path consists of loose decorative stone chippings, and help may be required to transverse this area.
The pool, sauna, steam room, gymnasium and spa treatment rooms are accessible by lift then level floor access. All doors and openings are wheelchair friendly. There is a ladder access point into the pool, as well as gradual steps.>
The pool has a designated disabled toilet / changing facility, which includes a wet room with shower.
There is level access through the Pool onto the external Sun Terrace, but the pool gardens can only be accessed by steps from the Sun Terrace. However, level access to these gardens is provided through a gate at the bottom of the garden, from the Spa access road. It should be noted that the pool gardens are graded, and slope down from the pool, which may cause difficulties.
