PAINTINGS BY ROBERT LENKIEWICZ AT THE CORNWALL HOTEL
The artist Robert Lenkiewicz (1941 – 2002), moved to Cornwall in the early 1970s. Over the course of 30 years working from his Plymouth studio, he became arguably the South-West’s most celebrated artist of modern times. His extraordinary body of work has been deemed ‘of national importance’ by the British Museum.
The Cornwall Hotel is privileged to have the opportunity to display five astonishing Lenkiewicz portraits, including two self-portraits, thanks to the generosity of a local private collector.

The five original, oil on canvas paintings are on display in the restored mansion at the heart of The Cornwall Estate. These are:
- ‘Study: Anna Navas with Stained Glass Window, Lower Compton’ (detail pictured above)
- ‘Self-Portrait’
- ‘Gender Re-assignment’
- ‘A teacher holding Polyhedron Models by M.J. Wenninger’
- ‘Self-Portrait in a Studio’ (detail pictured right)
Please do come and enjoy these paintings in the lovely setting of The Drawing Room, where you will also find several books about the artist.
