On Monday 8 March 2010, HRH The Countess of Wessex officially opened the Cornwall Hotel Spa & Estate. Local dignitaries including the Mayor of St Austell Brian Palmer, Lady Mary Holborow, Mr Jonathan Coode DL and Cllr Jill Bassham joined the architects, interior designers and funders of the hotel in the glorious sunshine to celebrate the opening of the hotel – seven years in the making.

Tom Bradbury is returning to his St Austell roots and taking up the role of Head Chef at The Cornwall Hotel Spa & Estate. Tom, of Watergate Bay fame, started his career at Catering College in St Austell before following the bright lights of the city to London where he took the position of Commis Chef working for Paul Gayler at the 5-star Lanesborough Hotel at Hyde Park Corner.
